Portfolio Bureau: Designing Five Career Profiles

Overview

It's no longer news that portfolios have become one of the best ways to showcase one's work competence or expertise. Their importance is especially evident by their almost mandatory use in certain professions such as: graphic design, photography, writing, computer programming, product design, etc.

In line with this, over the past week, our team was tasked with creating five portfolio websites, taking into account required sections to include. The nature of this task helped the team work more individually, giving nearly every member an opportunity to work on their designs from start to finish. Collaboration, however, still came into play by means of good-natured idea sharing, suggestions, and general review meetings.

The Task

Design a portfolio website with sections such as: About me, Work, Skills, and Contact.

The Process

Research

Understandably, the process for this task was a lot more straightforward. The team decided to source for inspiration from different related websites and platforms so we could have an even more solid grasp on the general format/layout of portfolios. Afterwards, our ideas had begun to form and so we decided to get designing.

As mentioned prior (and further buttressed by our research findings), the portfolio websites would have four major sections in common:

Contact

As for additional sections, that was left for each team member to decide on as regards their design.

Final Thoughts

We particularly enjoyed getting to work on this project due to the creative freedom we each got to express. As a team, we look forward to working even better together to produce great results.
